About Us
The Center for Global Politics is part of Freie Universität Berlin. The program director and founder of the Center for Global Politics is Dr. Klaus Segbers.
Freie Universität (FU) Berlin was successful in the second round of funding from the federal and state Initiative for Excellence. The applications for the future strategy and three clusters of excellence as well as three graduate schools of Freie Universität Berlin have been approved. Freie Universität is now one of the nine “universities of excellence” in the Federal Republic of Germany.
FU Berlin is one of the leading universities in Germany and distinguishes itself through its modern and international character. In university rankings Freie Universität places among the best universities.
Program director Dr. Klaus Segbers holds the Chair of Political Science at the Institute for East European Studies and is professor for International Relations at the Otto-Suhr-Institute for Political Science (OSI) at FU Berlin. He focuses on designing innovative concepts of knowledge-building and transfer. His main research fields are globalizing city regions, institutional change in transforming societies and Germany’s external relations.
