Ipshita Basu is Senior Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Westminster's Department of Politics and International Relations, London. Prior to this, she was Lecturer at University of Surrey (2012-2015) and Head of Research at BRAC's Institute of Governance Studies (2011-2012) in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Ipshita is a political sociologist specializing on governance and policy processes in South Asia.
Her research over the last 11 years has unpacked the relation between development policy narratives and the politics of identity. She has done this by engaging in issues such as redistributive justice, middle classes, urban governance and emerging power projection. Ipshita holds a PhD in International Development from the University of Bath and an MA in Gender Studies from the University of Warwick.
