Today the online modules for the 13th run of East European Studies Online students start. Our students of EES 12 are right now in the writing and research process of their master thesis, so no modules for them.

Again we offer an extensive scope of relevant and global topics:

East European Studies Online seeks to equip the students with the capacity to apply theoretical concepts to pressing issues in East European politics and to design recommendations for policy-making.

Module: History taught by Georgiy Kasianov

History provides knowledge of basic concepts shaping East European history (nation, religion, ideologies) and comprehend the pathways of East European history against the background of broader European history. The current grand debates of history will be presented and discussed, together with present East European landscapes of memory. The students will get acquainted with instruments providing a better understanding of East European history.

Module: Migration taught by Dr. Barbara Dietz

Within the framework of the Migration module the students will study the interdisciplinary nature of migration phenomena and the causes and outcomes of international migration. The students will deal intensively with a variety of migration movements from and to Eastern Europe ranging from asylum and refugee movements to labor and undocumented migration.
