Barbara Dietz is Associated Researcher, Department of Economics, Leipniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS), Regensburg and Research Fellow at the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA), Bonn. She conducted a series of international research projects on the return migration of ethnic Germans from the former Soviet Union to Germany and on migration and remittances in Central Asia. East-West migration. The results of these projects have been published in numerous scientific journals. Additionally she is involved in university teaching, advanced training, and consulting activities.
Her research is focused on: East-West migration, migration and remittances in Central Asia and the economic and social integration of immigrants from Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union in Germany and the EU.
