"From Moodle to MOOC"

The Center for Global Politics introduced a new MOOC concept at a workshop conducted by the Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation

News from Nov 26, 2013

The CGP staff members Katrin Risch and Kristina Klinkforth participated in the workshop “From Moodle to MOOC” conducted by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) on Friday, 8 November 2013, in Berlin. All day long, experts and practitioners in the field of digital learning gave talks and discussed the topic in panel formats. In addition, the “Market for E-Opportunities” featured universities and academic organizations engaged in blended learning and MOOC production.

We introduced a new MOOC concept which is specifically designed to tackle three of the major problems conventional MOOCs had up to now: lacking internalization, missing interaction, and high drop-out rates. The CGP MOOC is designed to address these challenges and find better solutions through engaging online learning designs. Our MOOC design was met with a lot of interest by the workshop participants – we look forward to working on and presenting the new CGP MOOC “E(x)CITE. Join the Game of Social Research” in summer 2014.
