Students taking part in the CGP’s in-house classes have completed ‘Career Day’

It is now the midpoint in the first week of in-house classes for 2016. Held at the Henry Ford Building at Freie Universitat Berlin, these classes are a major part of the blended learning experience. Today both students from International Relations Online (IRO) and East European Studies (EES) took part in a new addition to the week’s program called ‘Career Day’.
Rather than learning about specific topics related to their field of study, students on Career Day instead learn vital strategic skills for their future careers and to help them conduct research. Students chose from a number workshops on different skills to learn and then went about putting them into practice.
“The workshop provides me with the basic knowledge I need to use Excel and how to use this [program] for research tasks,” said one IRO student about a course on using the full potential of Excel. Another remarked on the “cool shortcuts for research” they learned at their workshop.
After the conclusion of Career Day students then gathered together for a detailed presentation about the Center for Global Politics. This presentation included detailed information of the different programs run at the CGP, allowing students to have a better understanding of where they fit in within the center and its alumni.
