The Center for Global Politics is calling for applications for its Iran 2016 Summer School
News from Apr 21, 2016
Returning after 2015, the Center for Global Politics (CGP) is pleased to announce the restart of our Global Politics Summer School (GPSS) in Iran. Applications are now open for this school, which will be held once again in the Iranian capital, Tehran. This time however, the CGP will be working with a new local partner, the Allameh Tabataba’i University (ATU), as well as a new discussion topic: ‘The Future Role of the EU and Iran in the MENA context’.
Both, Iran and Europe, are facing serious challenges in their regional contexts. Iran is involved in one way or another in defining its role in the MENA area, especially in the conflicts in and around Syria. Europe is facing a number of challenges, ranging from massive immigration flows over latent and real terrorism, a more assertive Russia, up to the possible Brexit, and rising populism on the continent. This year’s summer school will take up these conflicts, but also opportunities, and look for similarities and differences in attitudes. We therefore invite students from Iran, Germany and other countries to exchange their views and ideas on these topics.
