Prof. Segbers was invited by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Cambodia Office to give a public lecture delving into the issue of Europe´s current transition. Hosted by Dr. Daniel Schmücking, head of the KAS Cambodia Office, the event set out to give valuable input on the phenomenon of populism and aimed at engaging the audience to think about populism in global terms as well as in terms of what it means for Europe. Will Europe give in to the populist seduction, or will it remain a pillar of the liberal world order? Among others, this question was heatedly discussed during the two-hour event, as “populism” is not only a phenomenon to be seen in member states of the European Union, but also in the region of Southeast Asia.
