This year’s school revolves all around the guiding theme “Migration in the Middle East and Europe: Challenges and Opportunities”. Once again, the Center for Global Politics invited renowned lecturers from Jordan and Germany to jointly discuss current hot topics, this year with a focus on Migration.

In the upcoming ten days, 21 participants from Jordan, Palestine, Iraq, Syria, India, Austria and Germany are coming together to engage into topics like “Global Trends and Challenges” (Prof. Klaus Segbers, CGP, and Prof. Zhenjiang Zhang from Jinan University), “Opportunities and Challenges in the EU and the MENA Region” (Dr. Omar Rifai, Jordanian Ambassador/ University of Jordan, and Felix Karstens, ETHZ Zürich), “Migration in and to the MENA Region and Europe/ the EU” (Nadine Biehler & Amrei Meier, SWP, Prof. Helga Baumgarten, Birzeit University, Prof. Paul Tabar, Lebanese American University), and “Coping with Uncertainty: Youth in the MENA Region and Europe” (Tim Petschulat, FES Jordan & Iraq).

The academic program is accompanied by a diverse supporting program that includes a city tour, a trip to Jerash, a talk by GJU’s renowned professor Sahar Al-Makhamreh about the situation of refugees in Jordan, a talk by representatives of the Jordanian Women’s Union, NOGs Al-Hudood and Sowt, a visit to Collateral Repair Project as well as a discussion on the topic of “Global Trends and Challenges”.

The fall school is kindly funded by DAAD and the Heinrich Böll Foundation Palestine & Jordan.
